    • Kittle (shoulder) is doing individual conditioning...

Kittle (shoulder) is doing individual conditioning work at Tuesday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Analysis: The Niners were quick to rule Kittle out for the rest of the exhibition slate after he suffered a separated right shoulder in the first game of the preseason. The injury is expected to heal with rest before Week 1, but it could have a slight impact on the division of playing time between Kittle and Garrett Celek. There won't be any serious cause for concern unless Kittle is still limited to individual drills when the 49ers begin preparation for the regular-season opener. Running back Matt Breida (shoulder) suffered a similar injury in the same game and seems to be on the same recovery path.

    • Dickson (quad) still has a shot...

Dickson (quad) still has a shot to be ready for Week 1 against the Broncos, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Analysis: Following last week's comment that Dickson wasn't making much progress, coach Pete Carroll sounded a bit more optimistic Tuesday, saying he's still hopeful of having the veteran tight end ready for Week 1. With Dickson on the non-football injury list for all of training camp, Nick Vannett has gone unchallenged as the Seahawks' top tight end. Dickson may end up with the No. 2 spot on the depth chart even if he does make it back at some point in September.

    • Coach Pete Carroll still expects Baldwin...

Coach Pete Carroll still expects Baldwin (knee) to be ready for Week 1 and even said the wideout could play in the final week of the preseason, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. "He'll want to play next week." Carroll said. "We'll make that determination next week. He's going to be there for the opener."

Analysis: Carroll has a history of using the media to spread false optimism or pessimism about injured players, but his adamance that Baldwin will be ready for Week 1 feels genuine. However, it would be surprising to see the eighth-year pro make an appearance in the team's preseason finale, even if he reaches the stated goal of returning to practice next week. Given his experience and the strength of his chemistry with Russell Wilson, the 29-year-old wide receiver should be fine to prepare for Week 1 on the practice field. It is slightly concerning that we don't know the details of Baldwin's injury, with the Seahawks opting not to expand upon the initial report of "knee soreness".

    • Bertolet is now competing with Jason...

Bertolet is now competing with Jason Myers for the kicking job, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

Analysis: With Cairo Santos (groin) unable to stay healthy, the Jets put in a waiver claim on Myers, who was let go by the Seahawks on Monday. Bertolet should have the advantage, considering he's made all three of his field-goal attempts and all three of his PATs during the preseason. It's hard to imagine a Jets kicker warranting roster consideration as anything more than a bye-week replacement this year.

    • Santos (groin) appears to have fallen...

Santos (groin) appears to have fallen out of the Jets' kicker competition, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

Analysis: With Santos hindered by yet another groin injury, the Jets claimed Jason Myers off waivers to compete with Taylor Bertolet. It's probably only a matter of time until the team releases Santos with an injury settlement.
